About this event
In the past few years, as social injustice after social injustice have flooded the media, there has been a lot of focus on creating communities that are “welcoming to all” and “safe spaces”. But, what exactly does it mean to create a safe space when you can’t really guarantee safety for everyone? How do you intentionally build that into your community strategy? In this masterclass, we will explore what is needed to shift your perspective from creating safe spaces to creating safer, brave spaces, and implementing tangible practices into your community strategy that center equity and inclusion.
After the Masterclass, participants will be able to:
Align their intention of creating an equitable and inclusive community with their actions
Discern what equity and inclusion practices work and what don’t work when building their communities
Audit their community building strategy through an intersectional, DEI focused lens
Vocalize their doubts and struggles that arise as they start creating and implementing equitable and inclusive practices into their community structure.
