About Me

Here’s my story: Community Signal Podcast "From Civil Engineer to Community Manager" In 2012 after being an engineer in the petrochemical and mining industry for 15 years, I felt like it was a good time to try something new. As an engineer, I lived conservatively, saved money and even took a year off to go back to school to earn a certificate in Internet Development so that I could make the transition into web design. I’ve been working as a freelance web designer ( since 2012 which I found rewarding, but I missed being part of an organization and being able to contribute to and grow from others. In Fall 2014, I started working at a website company as a Social Media Specialist and was promoted to a Social Media Manager within 1-1/2 months. While I enjoyed this job as it dealt with social media marketing and analytics, I also wanted to grow my skills on building better community engagement, generating leads, expanding brand reach and creating effective promotion ad campaigns. In 2015, I worked as a Rose International contractor for Kaiser Permanente as a Community Specialist as they prepared to sunset their enterprise social and content collaboration tool that had a user base of about 45,000 users. I'm currently the Senior Community Strategist at Zuora, Inc. where I've helped build, launch and currently manage their Community using Lithium. The Zuora Community serves as a place where customers, partners and prospects can learn, collaborate and share their ideas and issues with each other: I love building communities through Meetup, playing oboe/English Horn around the Bay Area and volunteering my web and social media skills for non-profits like Mensa and The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra. If you think it's worth our chatting, I welcome the opportunity!
