René Algesheimer is a researcher, fine art photographer, keynote speaker, entrepreneur and industry counselor, who brings energy, ideas and solutions to almost every context. Originally being a mathematician by training, he is the full professor of marketing and market research at the University of Zurich. Furthermore, he is the director of one of the twelve university research priority programs called URPP Social Networks at the University of Zurich. He is also the founder of thePiik.com, a member of the MarketingGroupZurich.com and President of the Board of epiphany AG.
In his research, he focuses on social networks, digital marketing, big data analytics and empirical quantitative research. His research interests lie at the interface of social technology, individual and social consumption and large-scale data. Currently, he invests lots of energy into examining the influence of social effects on sustainability and consumer welfare. His work on marketing-related issues has been published in the discipline`s leading international journals, including PNAS, Marketing Science, Network Science, The Journal of Marketing Research, The Journal of Marketing, The Journal of Service Research, or Harvard Business Review. He won several international awards for his work, frequently reviews articles or sits on editorial boards of marketing journals.
René has extensive consulting and expert witness experience in the online marketing, consumer goods, retail, insurance, technology, media, healthcare, and consulting industries. His specialties are combining data science with business applications in the area of predictive social analytics, design, development and measurement of digital marketing and social media strategies, online community management through community dashboards, managing customer information and developing positive ROI marketing campaigns, CRM adoption and branding topics.
