As community builders, we are often tasked with planning events for our members. Running events should be exciting and fun, but sometimes the plain ol' panels and fireside chats get boring and we end up merely phoning it in.
As a result, we may struggle to get our community members to be active, engaged participants in the event itself. So how do we take our work one step further, to build more deeply engaged communities through incredible events?
This event on events (we love being meta) will be an interactive discussion facilitated by community builders Carrie Melissa Jones and Harmony Eichsteadt. All community builders and event designers are welcome!
We will discuss event formats that have worked for us, think outside the box to design new events types, try out some new icebreakers and engagement ideas, and walk away with a toolkit for running events that are no longer "ho-hum".
Join us at the beautiful Industrious coworking space on March 28 for this evening discussion.
Please note that when you register, we will share your email with Industrious and you are welcome to opt out of communication immediately if you request via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Who: Our meetup is for those who gather people for a living, whether online or offline, for a for-profit, public sector, or non-profit company. Seattle Community Builders welcomes everyone from all backgrounds, and we do not tolerate discrimination or bullying of any kind.
When: March 28, 5:30-8:30 PM
Where: Industrious Seattle, 2033 6th Ave. Floor 6 in downtown Seattle
- The office at Industrious is on the 6th floor of an office building.
- The office building has elevators up to the 6th floor and has handicap-accessible doors with push button entrance on them. They can be a bit tricky though, so if you need any assistance or think you might, please reach out to email@example.com and we will make sure that someone is at the ready to assist you upon your arrival.
- Once on the 6th floor, everything is flat and on one floor, with an open doorway entrance into the meetup area. We will ensure that signage is clear.
- The bathrooms are *not* gender neutral, but you are welcome to use either restroom.
