What started as a quirky communication app for gamers, Discord has quickly blossomed into an incredibly powerful community platform. In 2022, over 140 million active monthly users and nearly 7 million servers mean there is no shortage of unique communities to explore and new friends to make. Even the major players are taking notice: Microsoft and Twitter have each offered to acquire the company for as much as $18 billion. New platforms mean new business opportunities, and Discord is no exception. More and more companies and interest groups are venturing into Discord to explore how they can leverage the chat and voice tool to build their own communities.
